Shoot : Shelter
I thought we'd take a moment and blog about the changes that we go through for commercial projects.
We recently shot a campaign that was close to the models heart for Shelter. The charity dedicated to helping homeless people.
So after some work in the studio we settled on an image that we considered to be both thought provoking and shocking. Unfortunately a studio shoot is not what the client is looking for, so some photoshop work is required.
First of all we changed the background
Though this was perhaps a little darker than we wanted. We decided that the model should also be dirtier. She's meant to be naked and homeless after all.
We changed the background and dirtied her up a bit.
So far so good, however the client wanted the people in the background removing.
We removed the people and the client liked it, but said it looked a little odd.
So we made the background darker. Giving it a more natural stormy look
The client asked us to make the road seem to go on to infinity, rather than ending at the end.
As much as they liked it, they decided to go with a previous version... Thus is the way...

Good job. I appreciate you taking us through the process. Very good Photoshop work. Especially the dirt on the skin.

Thanks for the comment Rosh!
We’ll be doing a blog post on workflow soon… or rather a series of blogs.
We’ll point out a project from the start to the finish.
