Street Photography {Exeter}
Today my good friend and assistant Tristan and I met up in Exeter to test the Fuji X100 with a bit of street photography.
Below are a small selection of photos I shot today. I am quite impressed with X100. The quality is lovely and the camera itself is very light. br>If you are sitting and shooting or standing still and shooting, the camera is awesome. If you are shooting on the move the hybrid view finder may cause an issue. Cleverly, when you take the shot, the image is then displayed direct in the viewfinder. At first very disconcerting, but eventually really nice. br>Further more. If you review the photos, you can do so on the back of the camera or via the view finder. Increadibly useful if shooting in sunlight where the back of the screen is hard to see in direct light.
The x100 is also a little slow with some shutter lag in low-light. It struggled to to focus when going from bright to dark conditions. Not a major issue and certainly something that can be learnt to work around or live with
Also worth noting that after 5 hours of shooting (not constant) the battery died. Which was highly disappointing in a field test and cut the test short somewhat. Though massive battery life can't be expected when the rear LCD is almost constantly on and the hybrid viewfinder displays photos as well.
Would I buy one? Yes! Though I'd like to have another trial with it first. I want to see if my big fingers can get used to navigating the multi-page menu for a start. br>
I think, i'd also have to invest in additional batteries. Something I have already done for my Leica.
Take a look at a few of the photos below...
