Shoots
Model: Cassie Hooper
Cassie is a tiny 4' 11" tall, but what she lacks in height she makes up in pure fun
Cassie and I have been talking about a shoot for sometime now. With a single portfolio shoot under her belt, Cassie and I arranged to shoot as soon as the studio was complete.
Well that day was yesterday and what a great shoot it was. Assisted, as ever, by the very awesome Tristan (check out his website at tristanography.com), we spent the morning working through different outfits and poses.
Cassie was a complete pleasure to shoot with and I am looking forward to our next shoot.
A few photos in the mini-gallery below
Model: Jason Geen
Every now and then we choose a model from a previous shoot and feature them on our blog.
Jason is a Ninja!!! Well not really, but as a model he plays a very convincing martial artist.
I did my usual and got the model, Jason, to scream as he was throwing poses around with fellow model, Toya.
We used fake blood gel, swords, nun-chucks and guns. I know I know... You wish you were there!
All in all we had a great time shooting with Jason and with a new studio build under way, surely that's a good excuse for another shoot with him.
I'll leave you with a couple of photos of Jason, including the final one that we used...
If you're interested in working with Jason, he is on the books of Aesthetic Clarity
Model: Victoria Orbell
I often get friends of mine, suggesting their friends as new models
Now, whilst I appreciate this, my idea of model worthy and my friends often differ. However, when I was introduced to Victoria Orbell, I knew we had a winner.
Victoria is young and very friendly and has a look which just... works!
She's also available to hire for both TFP/CD and Paid Gigs. You can get her details by emailing us...
Shoot : Shelter
I thought we'd take a moment and blog about the changes that we go through for commercial projects.
We recently shot a campaign that was close to the models heart for Shelter. The charity dedicated to helping homeless people.
So after some work in the studio we settled on an image that we considered to be both thought provoking and shocking. Unfortunately a studio shoot is not what the client is looking for, so some photoshop work is required.
First of all we changed the background
Though this was perhaps a little darker than we wanted. We decided that the model should also be dirtier. She's meant to be naked and homeless after all.

Model: Maddison Jet
This week I've decided to put up images that were shot during the Paul D Smart Photography Interview
We were shooting with professional model Maddison Jet in our Plymouth Studio and we've had a number of requests to see the photos.
As always your comments are appreciated...
Warning: Contains really mild nudity
From The Archive: Gemz
I was moving some data from our onsite server to removal media for offsite storage and came across this set of images featuring the model Gemz.
Gemz is a model i've had in my studio on several occasions, including while she was 8.5 months pregnant with the Awesome Charlie.
I thought I'd take a moment to share these images with you. They are unedited (other than white balance and resizing on export). I love the grit of the shots. Kinda reminds me of the stuff done by Grime & Glamour Photographer, Chris Harrison
I hope I've not offended Chris by saying such a thing!
Warning: Contains a bit of nudity
Shooting Custom Mod Trucks
(or how I screwed up my knee)
This week I was on an assignment shooting the interior of a custom modified ex Lithuanian Army Truck!
While I was on location I was stepping down from the modified rear cabin when, putting my foot on the floor, my knee twisted and I dislocated it.
The knee popped straight back in, but it certainly caused me a lot of pain and increadible amount of swelling. I am happy to say, I did manage to finish the shoot however. I've not included photos of the swollen knee as they may not be to everyones taste!
Commissioned by the client to provide some interior shots to demonstrate what kind of work they can do, I was amazed when I saw the inside of this truck.
With a full array of entertainment such as HD LCD TV, BluRay Player, Xbox 360 and Apple TV and 7.1 Surround Speakers.
Lovely Blue and Red LED lights are used at floor level and really do set a lovely mood.
The inside certainly does hides whats on the outside.
The two bedroom truck was commissioned for a gentleman who intends taking it across desserts.
Fully loaded this truck even has Gas Oven and Hob, Water Pump and even a full electric shower. Really does make me want one!

Coca-Cola Concept: Battle Royale
In February 2011, I shot a concept based on the Asian movie Battle Royale, for a new drink they are looking to bring to the UK.
It was a fun day of swords, guns and fake blood.
We used four different models for the day and shot with a variety of formats.
It was a long but fun day and I am glad to say that the photos were well received by Coca-Cola, though no decision has or will be made on the shoot concept for some time yet.
I've not included a shoot setup with this blog post because of the large number of formats used. The shoot was done (for the most part) High Key White background
Prize Winner {The Sherpas}
In 2010, Paul D Smart Photography gave a complete shoot, studio and location, as first prize to the Winner of Okehampton Battle of the Bands.
Well over six months after The Sherpas walked away with the massive first prize, we finally managed to nail down a date for the four piece band of young lads, for their shoot.
